JTB-I95 FlyOver Opens with Ribbon Cutting by Governor and Local Officials
On October 30th, 2017, District 11 Council Member Danny Becton joined Governor Rick Scott and other State and Local officials in marking a major milestone to the I-95 / JTB Interchange Project with a ribbon cutting to open the flyover. The flyover represents the first section of the $78 million project being constructed by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
The new flyover is part of a transportation project that also includes the reconstruction and widening of the I-95/Butler Blvd. (JTB) interchange ramps, plus the addition of a westbound overpass to eliminate merging conflicts and congestion issues at Belfort Road. In addition, the reconstructed I-95 northbound off-ramp provides direct access to westbound Butler Blvd. from I-95 north allowing drivers to head over to Philips Hwy without making the old east bound U-turn at Belfort. “The new flyover is a game changer for the I-95 and JTB traveler”, commented CM Becton. “No more will drivers be required to navigate traffic lights to make that transition. This flyover will eliminate those major backups onto I-95 south that was an everyday issue.”
The entire project is expected to be completed in several months.
